In Canberra the RAP Committee are raising funds for the Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services.

Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services (WNAHCS) is an Aboriginal community controlled primary health care service. It is operated by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of the ACT.

# About this event

Join a First Nations Experiences of Democracy Tour. Treasury has booked this tour as one of a range of events to mark National Reconciliation Week.

This guided tour at the Museum of Australian Democracy tells the stories of First Nations Australians who have created change, including:

- The journey of Wiradjuri elders who travelled 150 km to attend the opening of Old Parliament House.
- The achievements of Neville Bonner, the first Aboriginal Australian elected to Parliament.
- The contributions of other notable figures such as Wenten Rubuntja, Charlie Perkins, and Faith Bandler.

All staff are welcome to attend and participate. Space on the tour is limited, please RSVP by COB Tuesday 27 May to 22 ☺@treasury.gov.au.

Treasury welcomes Selwyn Button to deliver an address marking National Reconciliation Week.

Selwyn is a Gungarri Man from Southwest Queensland and an experienced leader of health, education and governance organisations across the public, private, not-for-profit and community-controlled sectors.

Selwyn is a full time Commissioner at the Productivity Commission and co-leads the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stream of work.

National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for us all to learn about the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It's also a chance to explore how you can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year's theme is *Bridging Now to Next*.

## Meet the speaker

Selwyn Button was appointed by the Productivity Commission as a full time Commissioner in June 2024.

Selwyn is Gungarri man from Southwest Queensland and an experienced leader of health, education and governance organisations across the public, private, not-for-profit and community-controlled sectors.

Prior to joining the Commission, Selwyn was partner of PwC Indigenous Consulting (PIC), where he worked with a range of organisations to realise the commercial and community potential of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business, projects and initiatives. Previously, Selwyn has been the national Registrar of the Office of the Registrar for Indigenous Corporations, the Assistant Director-General for Indigenous Education in Queensland, Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council, and Chair of the Lowitja Institute.

Selwyn has led major policy, service delivery, governance and legislative reforms in his various leadership roles. He has also made significant contributions through his service as a board member of numerous sporting, arts, culture, health and early childhood education and care organisations.

A former primary school teacher and Queensland police officer, Selwyn holds a Bachelor of Teaching, a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. He was a Wolfensohn Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and is an active member of the Harvard Club of Australia.

Selwyn co-leads the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stream of work at the Productivity Commission and is currently working on the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement Review inquiry.
